Early Years Foundation Stage
Early Years Foundation Stage
3 - 4 years old
In the Early Years Foundation Stage (ages 3-4) our children learn through play and by engaging in well-planned structured activities across seven learning and development areas.
Prime areas
These prime areas are those most essential for your child’s healthy development and future learning. As children grow, the prime areas will help them to develop skills in four further specific areas.
Specific Areas
These learning and development areas are integrated into your child’s learning. Our passionate teachers fully support and actively engage with your child and ensure that the activities are suited to your child’s unique needs and interests.

Learn through play
Our EYFS provides a holistic learning environment that supports the development of cognitive, social and language skills. Our well-resourced classrooms inspire children to explore what interests them, which allows for a meaningful context for children to develop skills at their own pace in an enjoyable, safe, and challenging learning environment.
Learning opportunities are provided both in and out of the classroom, especially when the weather is good.
We meet the needs of all our children through:
- Providing opportunities that build upon and extend children’s knowledge, experiences, and interests to develop their self-esteem and confidence.
- Quality teaching based on the children’s current interests.
- Using teaching strategies based on children’s learning needs.
- Providing a safe and supportive learning environment in which the contribution of all children is valued.
- Well-resourced, creative classrooms using resources that engage all children.
- Monitoring children’s progress and taking action to provide support or extension if necessary.
- Developing strong partnerships with our parents.
